THE RITUAL
What began as a simple way of entering SUNDAZE became a living practice of generosity.
Fruit was never only an entrance condition.
It was an offering. A contribution. Something to share.
In Istanbul, the ritual also carried its Turkish name: #girişlerMEYVEile.
7,300 KG OF FRUIT GATHERED AND SHARED
WHEN THE RITUAL EXPANDED
On two occasions in Istanbul, entrance included both fruit and food for animals living without homes.
Participants selected from several contribution levels through a partner donation platform and brought their contribution alongside fruit.
Together, the community collected more than half a ton of food.
The food was later distributed with local volunteers feeding animals in forested areas around Istanbul.
THE GIFT, ELSEWHERE
A small offering can travel further than the person who brought it.
We could not reproduce the same redistribution system in every city. Local trust, food safety, volunteer networks and community infrastructure differ from place to place.
The ambition is not to copy one model everywhere. It is to find the right way for the gift to keep moving, wherever SUNDAZE takes root.
The gift kept moving.
A portion of the fruit collected at the entrance was shared within the gathering.
Much of what remained continued outward through Çorbada Tuzun Olsun, alongside its volunteer food distribution work supporting people living on the streets in Istanbul.
The gift did not end at the gathering. It kept moving.
